In this tour, we visit a local home in Chennai for an interactive cooking session and lunch. The cooking session will be led by the lady of the house. There is no “standard menu” for the meal; it is based on the season and what’s available in the market. You have two options to choose from: vegetarian or non-vegetarian. If you have any other dietary restrictions or preferences please let us know.
Before we start the cooking, we will provide an introduction to the ingredients, spices and cooking techniques that we are using. Those who wish to participate can help not only in chopping and prepping the ingredients, but also in cooking. Please let your hostess know whether you prefer to watch and/or photograph step by step, or do some hands-on cooking. If there is something specific you want to learn, please let us know in advance and we’ll check whether it is feasible.
While this is not a cooking class conducted by professionals, you’ll find yourself learning a lot about Indian food because of the interactive and friendly nature of the session. This tour also provides a chance to visit a “regular” home, see what family life is like, and chat about daily life in the city.
